First Long Run (over 5 miles)

Today's run was my first over 5 miles in about 15 years. The remnants of Hurricane Katrina reached New York today and for us it meant high humidity. So today's run involved a few water stops along the way. I ran out Davis (.2m) to Old Mamaroneck Road past the Fenway Golf Course, which is the one mile mark for me. Next down to the Heathcote Bypass (1.2m, tot: 1.4m), on the right of way for the old Boston-New York Railroad. I could really feel the humidity as my internal temperature rose and my face was flushed. I walked at about the where Heathcote Road (.8m, tot: 2.2m) passes over the bypass, and again at the turn around at the end of the bypass (.3m, tot: 2.5m) . I ran back through four corners to via Palmer Ave to Secor Rd and to Old Mamaroneck and Soundview (2.0m, tot: 4.5m). made the left onto Soundview when I got back into White Plains. Prescott (.9m, tot: 5.4m) and back to Davis (.3m, tot: 5.7m).

Trying for that fiver

Today I was determined to get that fiver in so I took basically the same route as I did two days ago. I knew I had almost gotten there so I figured if I added a few more streets in that I would get there. So I headed out the same way, all the way past Dupont (2.2m) this time to Murchison before I made the left. Ran to Gedney Esplanade and made the right to Hathaway Lane (.5m, 2.7m) and out to Bryant. (.6m, tot: 3.3m). The last leg took me 1.4 so once again I clocked in at 4.7m.

Gedney Farms, Rain

It was raining this Sunday, and it was a Godsend because it was very humid. I took the route out Davis to Prescott and Soundview (.3m) and all the way out Soundview to Old Mamaroneck (1.0m, tot: 1.3m). At this point Ridgeway is a nice easy downhill that rises to a pretty nasty incline up to Mamroneck Ave. I'm trying to get my full 5m in these days so I crossed over Mamaroneck Ave on Ridgeway to Dupont.
(.9m, tot: 2.2m). The hill and the humidity took a lot out of me so I walked a bit down Dupont. Then I ran to Heatherbloom and Macy (.8m, tot: 3.0m), and continued on out to Bryant Ave and Hathaway by the twin's preschool (.4m, tot: 3.4m). I finished up with a straight shot down Bryant to the big hill up Bryant to Greenridge (.9mi, tot: 4.2m). The final leg took me back to Davis and Prescott (.5m, tot: 4.7m). Didn't get my 5er today.

A little longer

My run two days ago proved to be a little shorter than I would have liked. So in an effort to get some more mileage in I tried a different route. Starting out at Davis and Prescott I ran to the end of Prescott at Soundview (.3m). I made the left onto Soundview and ran down to the intersection of Soundview and Old Mamaroneck (1.0m, tot: 1.3m). I continued down Ridgeway to Coralyn (.2m, tot: 1.5m) and made a right. I ran up Coralyn to Reynal Crossing (.5m, tot: 1.8m). This was the turn around I ran out to Old Mamaroneck made the right. Ran to Soundview made the left and ran uphill past Kol Ami and down Soundview to Prescott (1.3m, tot: 3.1m) and finished up by running down Prescott to Davis (.3m, tot: 3.4m).

Short and Sweet

Today's little run was surprisingly short. Started out from the usual location and ran out to Prescott and Soundview (.3m). I made the left on Soundview and the right turn onto Hartsdale Ave and ran out to Garden and Mamaroneck Ave (1.0m, tot: 1.3m). Ran down the hill to Post Road (Route 22) and made the right to Oxford (.5m, tot: 1.8m). Running along Post Road to Oxford was a bit nerve wracking as it was (as usual) heavy traffic. I turned up Oxford and left on Greendale -- thank you Neil Young -- and ran up Eton Rd to Park Rd (.5m, tot: 2.3m). The next leg took me out Park Rd to Winslow and Soundview (.4m, tot: 2.7m). Finished up by making the right onto Soundview the left onto Prescott Ave and finished at Davis (.3m, tot: 3.0m) .
